ABOUT ME
Nothing truly prepared me for the reality of becoming a parent.
Attending silent meditation retreats, reading parenting books, touring hospitals and daycares, taking birth classes, and having a stellar doula and team of midwives — doing all of this made me feel grounded and ready, but when the rubber hit the road, my wheels fell off. My new family ran into challenging circumstances. My career as a Cinematographer and Director disrupted the rhythm and harmony we were working hard to establish at home. It felt like friction in every direction, and I struggled, in all the ways.
During those early years, seeking support from family and friends didn't always provide the relief and understanding I hoped for. I needed a friend who could hold space for my venting without passing judgment on me or my wife, and I needed an elder who could better relate to those early days of parenting. Eventually, over the course of several years, I found the support and skills necessary to better integrate my values into my actions. This journey involved navigating shame, healing childhood wounds, and feeling isolated in my experience. Looking back, I realize that it was harder than it needed to be, which is why I started offering this service.
My transition into parenthood is still fresh and alive for me. The growth and education never ends, but I’m thankful to be in a place where I can look around me and offer folks a hand. As a doula for dads, I am committed to supporting and holding space for other fathers on their unique journeys, whether their partner is pregnant with their first child, or they already have a couple of kids running around. I’m here.
